ORRINGTON – Ernest Eugene Fogg, husband of Carol (Coffin) Fogg, died May 5, 2010, at his home, after a long battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 19, 1936, in Freeport, the son of Merrill O. Fogg Sr. and Clara (Soule) Fogg. Ernie was a 1955 graduate of Freeport High School and attended Bentley College, Boston, before joining the Navy in 1956. He worked for NCR as a field engineer for 25 years, retiring in 1986, and worked for several years as the service manager at Advanced Data Systems, Bangor, before starting his own business, Computer Maintenance Services, Orrington. He and Carol also operated Foggy Ridge Bed and Breakfast for several years. In addition, he was also a writer and painter. Ernie was a member of Second Congregational Church, Brewer, from 1966 to 1980, where he served as a trustee, deacon, youth group leader and choir member. He became a member of East Orrington Congregational Church in 1981, where he served on the board of deacons and sang in the choir. In addition he was a 4-H leader in Orrington for several years. Ernie loved nature and had great respect and appreciation for all of God’s creation. In addition to his wife of 51 years, Ernie is survived by a sister, Mrs. Marilyn DiBiase of Portland and her husband, John; three brothers, Edwin Fogg of Freeport, Merrill Fogg and his wife, Janice, of Freeport, and Joseph Fogg and his wife, Ruth, of Monmouth; a brother-in-law and his wife, Edward and May Coffin of Augusta; a sister-in-law, Elaine Coffin of Avon, Conn.; his children, Heidi (Fogg) Bouchard Corliss and her husband, Brian, of Winterport, Douglas Fogg and his wife, Danielle, of Raleigh, N.C., and Heather (Fogg) Hogan of Brewer; nine grandchildren, 2nd Lt. Cory Fogg, Benjamin Bouchard, Taylor Fogg, Jarrod Bouchard, Cooper Hogan, Ashton Fogg, Kyle Hogan, Dillon Corliss and Justice Fogg; 28 nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Charlotte Fogg and Emily Stimpson; one brother, Donald Fogg; a brother-in-law, Fred Coffin; two sisters-in-law, Delores Coffin and Barbara Fogg; a beloved son-in-law, Paul Bouchard; as well as one niece and one nephew. Ernie’s family thanks family and friends for all their love and support, but especially the nurses and home care workers at New Hope Hospice who provided such loving care to Ernie in his final days. A celebration of Ernie’s life will be held 7 p.m. Monday, May 10, at East Orrington Congregational Church, 38 Johnson Mill Road, Orrington, with a reception after.
