SKOWHEGAN – Lane Kingsbury, 79, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Maine Medical Center, Portland. He was born May 3, 1931, in Stockton Springs, son of the late Nathaniel and Cora (Cunningham) Kingsbury. He graduated from Winterport High School, Class of 1948. Lane served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Lane married the former Elizabeth Groves, Dec. 19, 1975, in Skowhegan. He worked as a truck driver for Coles Express, out of Bangor, for 28 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Skowhegan and a member of the Teamsters. He loved to play golf and loved to watch the Boston Red Sox. In addition to his wife of 34 years, Elizabeth of Skowhegan, he is survived by four children, Jeffrey Kingsbury and his wife, Donna, of North Carolina, Douglas Kingsbury of Brewer, Beth Burns and her husband, Joel, of Winterport and John Kingsbury and his wife, Robin, of Corinth; his sisters, Natalie Seekins of Searsport, Barbara Kingsbury of Searsport, Margaret Knowles and her husband, Frank, of Frankfort, Frances Hall and her husband, Keith, of Vermont, Jessie Ginn of Florida and Judith Tufts of Frankfort; his brothers, Donald Kingsbury and his companion, Lorraine, of Florida and Robert Kingsbury and his wife, Jean, of Frankfort; six grandchildren, Nathan, Stephen, Samantha, Chelsie, Michael and Ryan; one great-grandson, Grayson Kingsbury; many nieces and nephews; and his extended family, the family at Ken’s Restaurant. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Lawrence and Grover Kingsbury; one sister, Nancy Hardy; brother-in-law, Payson Seekins; and nephews, Mike Knowles and Danny Hardy. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan. Burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Augusta.
