CHARLESTON – Carl Franklin Allen Sr., 83, husband of the late Dorene (Woodard) Allen, died May 10, 2010, at his home after a period of declining health. He was born July 20, 1926, in Bangor, son of Guy S. and Mary Ella (Thomas) Allen. Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing, tending his garden and puttering around. Most of all, he loved his family. Carl gave 40 years of service to Bangor and Aroostook Railroad. Carl was a member of Charleston United Baptist Church. In addition to his wife of 32 years, Carl was predeceased by two sons, Carl F. Allen Jr. and James R. Ward Sr.; one sister, Eva (Allen) Bostwick; and three brothers, Alonzo, Paul and Guy. Carl is survived by two daughters, Dee Boudreau and her husband, Dave, of Charleston and Lorna Sevigny and her husband, Sean, of Old Town; one son, Tim Ward of Charleston; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family thanks his daughter, Dee, for her devotion to making sure that his wishes were met and that his final days were comfortable. Thank you to a granddaughter, Chrystal, for taking one free day a week to be with him. Also thanks to Hospice of Eastern Maine for the caring team they sent to support our family during this time. Graveside funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, at Charleston Village Cemetery. There will be a celebration of Carl’s life after the service at Dee’s house.
