BANGOR and BUCKSPORT – James Russell Wardwell, 59, died quietly on Mother’s Day, May 9, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 23, 1950, the son of William “Bill” and Ruth (Colby) Wardwell. He graduated from Bucksport High School in 1968. He was a sergeant with the 26 Security Police Squadron, U.S. Air Force, at Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany, with temporary duty in Greece, Turkey and England. He attended University of Maine at Farmington for a year and then graduated from Eastern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in 1976. He worked for the city of Bangor for many years and at the time of his death, worked for security at Verso Paper, Bucksport. He is survived by his mother; his loving wife, Julia (LaPoint) Wardwell; three brothers, Dana, Timothy and Frank; one sister, Ellen McElvain; many nieces and nephews who will miss him. He is also survived by stepchildren, Ericka, Brandee and Ben; and one stepgrandchild, Patrick, who he was helping to raise. He was predeceased by his father; and one sister, Joyce Andrews. Julia and Jim shared a love that will never end. Forever plus three. Family and friends may gather for visitation 10 a.m. until the time of the service 11 a.m. Thursday, May 13, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating.
