BERNARD – Kathleen Shelly Driscoll, 59, died May 6, 2010, in Bernard. She was born June 7, 1950, in New York City, the daughter of James W. and Eleanor (Mahoney) Shelly. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a degree in food science. She attended Western New England College and earned her Master of Business Administration. Kathleen worked as a senior manager for H.P. Hood Dairy Corp., Boston. Locally she worked at Bar Harbor Bank & Trust as a bank officer, attending New England School of Banking at Williams College. When she was able, she loved swimming, bicycling, hiking, kayaking, golf, needlepoint work and even sky diving. In recent years, her time was spent primarily in nurturing her family and in caring relationships with her many friends. Kathy also helped organize and support a number of community service projects. Kathy’s courage and spirit, despite medical infirmities, were a true inspiration to her family and friends. Her strength and positive outlook throughout her life were indomitable. She was a member of Tremont Congregational Church and belonged to AL-ANON. Kathleen is survived by her beloved husband of 23 years, Frederic J. Driscoll III; two daughters, Caroline and Jillian, all of Bernard; 12 nieces and nephews; and three great-nieces and great-nephews. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 21, at Tremont Congregational Church with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Buchanan officiating. Immediately after the service there will be a reception at the church. Arrangements by Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert.
