KEZAR FALLS – Gale Frederick Jarvis, 78, of the Mudgett Road, Parsonsfield, died May 6, 2010, at Maine Medical Center, Portland, after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 13, 1932, in Houlton, a son of Harold and Shirley Holtham Jarvis, and attended local schools. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He learned boxing as a young man and continued boxing in the Marines. He worked for more than 20 years at Cyn Environmental Services, Stoughton, Mass., and retired as plant manager. Gale was always a hard worker and a “jack of all trades.” He could do or fix most anything around his home. He enjoyed hunting, especially at his camp in Monticello. He also enjoyed many sports, playing cards, snowmobiling and was an avid reader. He was well loved, and will be sadly missed by his entire family and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Stephen Jarvis; a grandson, Michael Greene; and a stepdaughter, Ellen Shaw. Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Betsy M. Jarvis of Kezar Falls; two sons, Christopher Jarvis of Spokane, Wash., and Gregory Jarvis and Eleana of Marlborough, Mass.; two daughters, Gayla Jarvis of Maryland, and Deborah and James Cheak of Maryland; two stepsons, Eric and Cindy Shaw of Massachusetts, and Christopher Shaw of Kezar Falls; a stepdaughter, Jennifer and Ron Curtis of Massachusetts; two brothers, Bill and Diane Friel of Gardiner, and David and Brenda Jarvis of Dixfield; six sisters, Gloria and Ray Britton of Monticello, Beverly Lint of Mars Hill, Eva Williams of Sanford, Wilma and Art Hedburg of Florida, Cindy and Weldon Perkins of Florida, and Phyllis Cote of North Carolina; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at Riverside United Methodist Church, Kezar Falls. Donations may be made in his name to The Sacopee Rescue, P.O.
