KENDUSKEAG – Howard E. “Sonny” Trundy Jr., 74, died May 12, 2010, at his home, after a long and difficult battle with cancer. He was born Aug. 22, 1935, in Bangor, son of Howard E. and Mabel (Sawyer) Trundy Sr. Howard graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1954. After graduation, he served in the Air National Guard from 1954 to 1956, and in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1967. He was employed by Bangor Theological Seminary for several years. Howard, his wife Carolyn, Melvin Knowles and his wife, Lois, founded a contracting business called Melson Enterprises in 1978, which they operated until retirement in 1999. Howard enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and many other outdoor activities. He had many fond memories at Schoodic Lake and Nesowadnehunk where he made several dear friends. Howard and Carolyn celebrated 53 years of marriage in December 2009. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Carolyn, of Kenduskeag; are his daughter, Pamela and her husband, Tommy McClure, of Kenduskeag, and their two daughters, Amy and Wendy; three sons, Dale Trundy and his wife, Vicki, of Glenburn, and their three sons, Andrew, Stephen and Owen, David Trundy and his wife, Lori, of Clifton, and their son, Jordan, and Daniel Trundy of Glenburn and his children, Julie and Josh, and their mother, Sue; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jody Rodgers and her husband, Bill, and Barbara Grant and her husband, Elwood, all of Glenburn; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Robbie Lucarelli and Sue. Howard was predeceased by his parents. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Immediately after, friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments at 226 Townhouse Road, Kenduskeag.
