GARDINER – Joseph M. Martin, 78, died Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Gilbert Manor, Gardiner. He was born April 11, 1932, in Restigouche Provence, Quebec, son of Peter and Mary (Tenass) Martin. Joseph had worked as a miller at a sawmill in Grindstone. He joined the U.S. Army, served during the Korean War, and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed going fishing. Joseph was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Gordon Martin, Leonard Martin and Mike Martin; and two sisters, Emma Martin and Margaret Dyer. He is survived by a sister, Cora Martin of Restigouche Provence, Quebec; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Committal services with military honors will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, in the chapel at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
