CARIBOU – Paul St. Peter, 77, well-known Caribou businessman and area contractor, died May 14, 2010, at his residence after a brief illness. He was born June 10, 1932, in Caribou, son of the late Patrick and Laura (Paradis) St. Peter. He was a 1951 graduate of Caribou High School, where he was on the varsity football and baseball teams, as well as captain of the ski team. After graduation, Paul went to work for his father in the plumbing and heating business. In 1957 he joined with his father and brother to form Patrick St. Peter and Sons Inc., a successful commercial contracting company which is currently owned and operated by the fourth generation of St. Peters, his grandsons. For several years he was the company clerk for the 152nd Field Artillery Maine Army National Guard, and was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He married Yvonnette Theriault, Feb. 27, 1954. Paul was a loving and devoted husband and family man. He loved to spend time with his family at their Cross Lake camp, as well as spending time with and attending all of his grandchildren’s events. Paul also was an avid horseshoe player and enjoyed pitching horseshoes and won numerous state competitions. Surviving in addition to his wife of more than 56 years, Yvonnette of Caribou, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Claire St. Peter, and Kirk and Cheryl St. Peter, all of Cross Lake; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Harry Evans of Presque Isle; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Philip and Janice St. Peter of Caribou, David and Vickie St. Peter of Madawaska Lake and Alan and Kathy St. Peter of Woodland; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Jim Murphy of Gardiner, Patricia and Tom Curry of Leland, N.C., and Claire and Nate Randolph of Caribou; a sister-in-law, Lorraine St. Peter of Caribou; eight grandchildren, James and Brent Shade, Ryan and Adam St. Peter, Michelle Hersey, Kellie Olmstead, Jessica Rossignol and Amy St. Peter; eight great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Mr. St. Peter was predeceased by a daughter, Lisa, in 1971; and a brother, Donald. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, May 17, at Parish of the Precious Blood, Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with the Very Rev. John Paul Labrie, pastor, officiating.
