BANGOR – Jane Elizabeth Bergholt, 78, died peacefully May 15, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. She was born May 20, 1931, in Camden, daughter of John and Amber (Anderson) Bergholt. Jane graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1952. She then went on to graduate from Aroostook State Teachers College, University of Maine, Presque Isle, Class of 1973. Jane loved children and taught in Greenville, Bucksport, Lincoln and Millinocket, and retired in New Portland. She was a member of Hammond Street Senior Center and Hammond Street Congregational Church. Jane volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital Gift Shop and Westgate Manor. Many of her family members have hats, mittens, and socks lovingly knitted by Jane. There are many fond memories of playing Skip-Bo with her family and friends. More than anything Jane loved her family. Jane’s cousins were her substitute brothers and sisters, Natalie and Welman McFarland, Donna Anderson, David Anderson and Sandi Ciarrocchi, Gayle Manning, Nancy and Dick Huggard, Bert and Marilyn Daniels, Carla Daniels, Ann Anderson, Andrea and Jim Caldwell, Jeanie and Charlie Colbert, Gwen Rogers, Heather and Kevin Hachey, Ken and Sharon Anderson and Syndi Hutchinson; numerous other cousins; friends, Maurice Dunton, Joyce Hollis, Ginny Fournier, Lillian Purton, Sylvia Tapley, Maxine Hartley, Mary Martin, Kerry Curtis and many other dear friends. She was predeceased by her mother, Amber Anderson; and cousins, Beverly Prevost, Mark Anderson and Jack Daniels. Jane’s family is grateful to the caring people at Brewer Rehabilitation and Living Center for the love and care she received. A private service of remembrance will be held at Brewer Rehabilitation and Living Center at the convenience of the family. Private interment in July will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor.
