ORLAND – Jeffrey J. Rankin, 52, died May 17, 2010, in Blue Hill. He was born Jan. 6, 1958, in Castine, the son of Lysle and Ferne (Bowden) Rankin. Jeff graduated from Bucksport High School, Class of 1976. After graduation he traveled out West, working in Washington state for a number of years, before coming back home to live. He enjoyed volunteering at the Reach school. Jeff loved to entertain, go to drag races and watch the Patriots and Boston Celtics. He is survived by his mother, Ferne Libby of Bucksport; his wife, Cindy L. Rankin of Orland; son, Jeffrey Rankin and his wife, Tanya, of Jackman; two stepchildren, Alicia Daley of Searsport and Jon Kinney of Belfast; two stepgrandchildren, Brandon Gray and MaKenzi Daley, both of Searsport; three sisters, Patricia Fournier and husband, Edgar, of New Hampshire, Nettie Shields of Bangor, and Ellie Gray and husband, Michael, of Verona Island; sister-in-law, Tena Rankin of Milbridge; special sister-in-law, Jackie French of Orland; several nieces and nephews; as well as his special friend and companion, Chance. He will be missed by many wonderful friends. Jeff was predeceased by his father; and one brother, Edward Rankin, Oct. 18, 2005. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 21, at Franklin Street United Methodist Church, Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. After the service there will be a gathering at Cindy and Jeff’s house, 96 Leaches Point Road, Orland. Arrangements by Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
