CORINTH – Douglas E. MacArthur Sr., 65, passed away May 19, 2010, at home with his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Aug. 4, 1944, in Indian Township, the son of Dan and Leola (Perkins) MacArthur. Doug worked many years as a mechanic. He enjoyed restoring antique cars and camping with his family. Doug was well known and respected by many. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, dad and papa. Doug is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Ruth (McAlpine) MacArthur; daughters, Stacy Pennington and her fiance, Jimmy Clark of Corinth, Tina Shaw and her husband, Dan, of Charleston, Wendy MacArthur of Corinth, Louise Noyes and her husband, Chester, of Brewer, and Darlene Bergeron and her husband, Dale, of Glenburn; sons, Douglas MacArthur Jr. and his wife, Melissa, of Bangor, Keith MacArthur of Corinth, and James MacArthur and his wife, Jobi, of Bangor; brothers, Ronny MacArthur and his wife, Patty, of Princeton, Dale MacArthur of Princeton, and Robert MacArthur of Princeton; sisters, Mavis Mackenzie of Princeton, Evelyn Littlefield and her husband, George, of New Hampshire, and Janet Harper of Canada; several special grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Matthew Ward, pastor of Charleston Pentecostal Church, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshment after the service at Power Line Prowlers Snowmobile Club House, Route 15, Corinth.
