HOULTON – Shirley Marie Ellis, 90, died May 22, 2010, at a local health care facility. She was born May 22, 1920, in Houlton, daughter of James E. and Barbara M. (Hawkins) Fortier. Shirley attended Houlton schools. She married Wilmont E. Ellis and raised five children, Gary, Gerald, twins Robert and Roberta, and Ronald. Shirley was employed in retail for 35 years and retired from Porteous in the Bangor Mall. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Bangor and Military Street Baptist, Houlton. Shirley is survived by one son, Gerald Ellis and his wife, Vivian, of Broad Brook, Conn.; one daughter-in-law, Trisha Ellis of Indiana; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Keith Fortier and his wife, Harriet, of Massachusetts; one sister, Dollie Estabrook and her husband, Earle, of Houlton; several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilmont; three sons, Gary, Robert and Ronald; one daughter, Roberta; a grandson, Gary II; eight brothers, Phillip, Leo, Donald, Francis, Russell, Thomas, Kenneth and Glenn; and five sisters, Josephine Bickford, Clara Ruall, Thelma Kierstead, Beverly Green and Wilma Budd. Friends may call 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service 11 a.m. at Dunn Funeral Home with the Rev. Randall Burns officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
