EAGLE LAKE – Emelda “Mel” (Ouellette) Toussaint, 82, went on to live her eternal fifth day with Jesus, her brother, May 21, 2010, at a Frenchville nursing home. She was born Aug. 17, 1927, in Eagle Lake, the daughter of Henry and Phoebe (Gagnon) Ouellette. She was the wife of the late Roland Toussaint. Emelda was co-owner of Clover Hill Lodge, built in 1968, and also a beach camping area in 1973. She was a member of Ladies of St. Anne of Wallagrass, American Legion Auxiliary of Eagle Lake and Catholic Order of Foresters of Wallagrass. She was the queen of crossword puzzles and enjoyed playing cards. Emelda was a resident of Crosswinds Residential Care Facility, Fort Kent, for several years before moving to St. Joseph’s Nursing Home, Frenchville. She was a loving peaceful mom, sister and friend. She is survived by her loving children, Lorraine Day of Augusta, Anita Dunn of West Virginia, Norman Toussaint and his wife, Suzzane, of Eagle Lake, Donald Toussaint and his wife, Kathy, of Delaware, Lena Sirois and her husband, Marcel, of Gardiner, Ronald Toussaint of Eagle Lake, Bertha Toussaint and her husband, Louis, of Madawaska, Rella Poulin and her husband, Larry, of Augusta, Daniel Toussaint and his wife, Debbie, of Frenchville and Kenneth Ouellette and his wife, Donna, of Eagle Lake; three sisters, Sister Gloria Ouellette P.S.M. of Baie St. Paul, Quebec, Cynthia Winters of Simsbury, Conn., and Thelma Saucier of Ashland; 29 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Willard Toussaint; her brothers and sisters, Vina Dube, Una Whalen, Exilia Whalen, Alphena Belanger, Roderick Ouellette, Leonard Ouellette, Patrick Ouellette, Jules Ouellette, Alphie Ouellette, Henry Ouellette Jr. and Ernest Ouellette. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until time of departure for Soldier Pond Thursday at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Soldier Pond. Burial will be afterward at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Soldier Pond. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Joseph Nursing Home, Route 1 Box 426, Frenchville, ME 04745, for the activity fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
