BANGOR – Victor Francis Notaro, 88, was called by his heavenly Father, May 22, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Aug. 1, 1921, in Boston, the son of Anthony and Anna (Cacicio) Notaro. Victor attended local schools until he entered the U.S. Army in 1942. He was stationed in Guadalcanal, Korea, Washington state, Mississippi, Florida and Halifax, Nova Scotia. He married his sweetheart, Constance Fimiani, February 1944. His life’s work was a leather cutter in the shoe industry. Victor was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox all his life, when they lost you could hear him mumble “the bums.” He also liked to go to Suffolk Downs to watch the ponies with his cronies to enjoy the day. He thoroughly enjoyed sitting on his front porch greeting the passers-by with a cheery hello and a bit of chitchat. Victor is survived by his son, Victor A. Notaro and his wife, Marla, of West Newfield; his daughter and her husband, Ann Marie and Michael Caruso of Bangor; and his sister, Camille Castiglione of Malden, Mass. He was Grand Pa to his four grandchildren, Leah and her husband, Richard Monteforte, of Massachusetts, Lisa M. and her husband, Gerald Martin, of Bangor, Michael A. Caruso and his wife, Xiomara, of Port Chester, N.Y., and John Notaro of Massachusetts; and was Big Pappa to his five great-grandchildren, Nicole and Vincent Monteforte of Massachusetts, Brooke Ann Caruso of San Antonio, Texas, Grace Catherine and Isabelle Rose Martin of Bangor. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and loving wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Nettie Notaro. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 3 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bangor. Interment will be at a later date in Massachusetts.
