COREA – Jackie Marvin Young, 74, died May 24, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Aug. 28, 1935, in Corea, the son of Kenneth and Bessie (Marston) Young. Jackie attended school in Winter Harbor and after graduating from Sumner High School he served in the U.S. Navy. He spent his life lobstering. He was an avid hunter of coyotes and bobcats. In earlier years he enjoyed coaching Little League, umpiring and playing softball. He will be sadly missed by his two canine friends, Ruger, who hunted with him, and Louie. He is survived by his wife, Susan McPherson Young of Corea; daughter, Donna Scott and husband, Robert, of Sullivan; stepdaughter, Lucretia Russell and husband, Scott, of Dayton; grandchildren, Beverly Grindle, Heather Scott, Katrina Scott-Willette, Jeremiah Young and Jessica Young; great-grandchildren, Elise Sargent and Evan Haskell; nephews, Alvin Dyer Jr., Mason Young, Kenneth Colson and Russell Colson; niece, Nicole Young; brother, Newman Young and and wife, Stephanie, of Gouldsboro; and sister, Ramona Dyer and husband Alvin “Jack” Sr. He was predeceased by his parents; son, Vernon W. Young; sister, Christina Crowley; and nephew, Alden Dyer. A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Friday, May 28, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, with a reception after the service until 3 p.m. Contributions in Jackie’s memory may be made to ARK Animal Shelter, P.O.
