MACHIAS, Maine – Area veterans, local girl scouts, Blue Star Mothers, students and others participated in the Memorial Day parade in Machias on Monday morning. Similar events were held throughout Washington County, including a 21-gun salute at Dennysville, a free supper at Cherryfield for veterans, and a ceremony at the town pier in Northeast Harbor for those lost at sea.
