BLUE HILL – Dorothy E. (King) Thomas, 88, died May 26, 2010, in Castine, after a short battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 11, 1921, in Camp Hill, Pa., the youngest of five children of Ella and Willis King. She grew up in New Cumberland, Pa., where she graduated from high school. During a trip to Miami with a friend, she met her husband, Robert. They married the following year and lived in Miami for many years until retirement, when they moved back to Blue Hill. She was an active member of Halcyon Grange and Ladies Day Circle, as well as Old Coots Club at the pantry in Blue Hill. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years; three brothers, John, Earl and Daniel King; and sister, Martha King. She is survived by her daughter and husband, Linda and Robert Recco of Castine; sister-in-law, Becky King of York Haven, Pa.; dear friends, Debbie and Mike Dyer, Shirley LeBlanc, Rose and Philip Small, Brian and Christy Snow, and their two children of Blue Hill, Marion Simmons and Hazel Hunt of Sedgwick, and Becky and Ramiro Fernandez, and their two children of Hudson Oaks, Texas; friends and neighbors, Marcie and Robin Bowen, Doug Stover, and many others who helped during her illness. Special thanks to all the wonderful people of the hospice program for keeping her comfortable and happy during these last months. There will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 4, at First Congregational Church of Blue Hill, 22 Tenny Hill, Blue Hill, with the Rev. Rob McCall officiating. Interment will be at Seaside Cemetery, Blue Hill.
