BANGOR – Ramona McPherson, 79, passed away peacefully in her sleep June 4, 2010, also known to her as “the 12th of never.” Ramona was born Sept. 2, 1930, to George Anderson Sr. and Helen L. Anderson of Bangor. The middle child of nine, her favorite quote was “two boys, two girls, Ramona, two boys, two girls.” She also had an older brother, George Anderson Jr. Ramona lived in Bangor where she raised her family. In the summer of her life, square dancing was her passion, in the fall of her life, it was painting happy clouds with Bob Ross. She worked at Viner Shoe as a hand sewer for 35 years until Viner’s closed in 1985. She went back to school for her GED and also graduated with a degree in culinary arts, after which she put her talents to work when she took a job in Orono at the University of Maine Children’s Center as a cook. She retired from there after five years of service. She was predeceased by her mother and father; her husband of 24 years, John McPherson Jr.; her oldest four brothers and the third youngest sister. She was also predeceased by her partner of 26 years, Leon Perkins of Orono. She is survived by three sisters and one brother. She is also survived by and will be lovingly remembered by her four children, Gary McPherson of Hudson, Craig McPherson of Kenduskeag, Susan Young of Kenduskeag and Mark McPherson of Levant; 28 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and the Perkins family.
