HANSON, Mass. – Barbara R. (Higgins) Comis, 87, formerly of Braintree, Mass., passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at her home. She was born in Presque Isle, and was a daughter of the late Ralph and Katrina (Fair) Higgins. She was a graduate of Carmel High School and attended Westbrook College. She was a member of Whitman Women’s Club and Garden Club. She was a former member of Pembroke Country Club, Strawberry Valley Golf Club and was past president of the Women’s Golf Association in 1993. She will be remembered as a good cook who loved to entertain. She was the wife of the late Charles “Chap” C. Comis; and sister of the late Ralph Higgins. She is the mother of Stephen R. Comis of Abington, Mass., Cynthia Keene of East Bridgewater, Mass., and Susan Moore of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; and sister of Gall Lovely of Lakeworth, Fla., and Newport. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Calling hour will be held 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at the Villa at Ridder Country Club, Oak Street, East Bridgewater, Mass., where a memorial service will be held 5 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
