BURLINGTON – Beth Leigh Rideout, 56, began her journey into eternal rest June 13, 2010, after a two-year battle with small cell cancer. Beth was born Aug. 12, 1953, in Lincoln, the daughter of Virgil G. Rideout Sr. and Charlene L. (Hatch) Rideout. She was a graduate of Penobscot Valley High School, Class of 1971, and De’Lor Beauty School in 1972. Beth had worked in many capacities in her short lifetime. She worked at Dexter Shoe, Hartford’s General Store, Cold Stream Lumber Co. and was presently employed by St. Joseph Hospital in sterile processing. She was a good mother, grandmother, sister and companion. She is survived by her companion of 10 years, Craig Bortell of Burlington; her children, Coleman Wakefield and his wife, Dawn, and their children, Hannah Mae and Brady Varitek; and Paul Wakefield and his companion, Linda Meader, all of Lowell. She also leaves her siblings, Virgil Rideout Jr. and his wife, Evelyn, of Lincoln, Charles “Chucky” Rideout of Burlington and Thelma Sibley and her husband, Paul, of Windham; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and an infant brother, Rory. At Beth’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral. There will be a family gathering at a later date.
