ORRINGTON and BUCKSPORT – Elda Blaylock, 77, passed away peacefully on the beautiful Saturday evening of June 19, 2010, surrounded by her loving sons. Elda was born June 30, 1932, in Berlin, N.H., to Robert and Margaret (Curisko) Tondreau. She later moved to and grew up in Lancaster, N.H., with her brothers, Vernon and Kent. Like many young people from the early 1950s she left her small town for a new start in a big city. After several jobs in Boston she responded to our countries call and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. While stationed at Wright-Paterson Air Force Base in the Women’s Air Corps, she met her husband of 46 years, Airman Bobby Blaylock. She became a military wife, protecting her family while her husband, Bobby, was away. During those years of travel and re-assignment, she was always active in the various base communities, such as scouting, sports and committee organizations. Upon Bobby’s retirement they move to the Bangor area, settling in Orrington, then later, Bucksport. She enjoyed working many years as the office manager at Bangor Roofing and Sheet Metal, where she had many fond memories of her co-workers. Upon retirement Elda and Bobby spent many years on Toddy Pond campground and crossing the country in their fifth wheel enjoying camping, fishing and crafts. Elda was as a very private and reserved person, but also strong and compassionate. She taught her family to be responsible, sympathetic, and to be self-reliant. Mom spent her final years with us as our friend, confidant and loving mother – for this we are most grateful. Elda is survived by her three sons and grandchildren, Stephen and his wife, Rachel, with grandchildren; Nick and Danielle, Lee and his wife, L’easa, with grandson, Drew; and Mark and Lesa, with grandchildren, Chris and his wife, Danielle, and Heather and her fianc?, Ali, and a great-granddaughter, Alianna. She was sadly predeceased by her husband, Bobby, in 1998; and her son, Robert, in 2003. Respecting Mom’s wishes, we will be having a private family service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her memory to the Maryknoll Missions, American Cancer Society or any organization that touches your heart. If you would like to add a thought in memory, please send an email to eldablaylock@yahoo.com. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer.
