NEWBURGH – Ralph “Eddie” E. Porter Sr., 73, passed away peacefully June 19, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. Ralph was born April 19, 1937, in Hampden, to Ronald F. and Inez E. (Barnes) Porter. Ralph served his country in U.S. Navy before going to work as a type setter for the Bangor Daily News for 30-plus years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying, rebuilding airplanes, stock car racing and motorcycling. He will be dearly missed and loved by all. Ralph is survived by his wife, Betty A. (Henderson) Porter of Carmel; children, Matthew and wife, Karen, of Winterport, Ralph Jr. “JR” and wife, Amy, of Carmel and Tammy Sanders of Lake City, Fla.; brothers, Terry, Michael, Newell, Earl, Eric and Kenneth; sisters, Marie, Carleen, Rhonda, Edna, Geneva and Anna Marie; an aunt, Dot; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Ralph was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Douglas; a sister, Jeannie; an aunt, Eva; and uncles, Albert and Carl. A celebration of Ralph’s life will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 26, at Ellingwood’s Corner United Methodist Church, 796 Lebanon Road, Winterport, with Pastor Chuck Langbein officiating. Interment will be at Brookside Cemetery, Chapman Road, Newburgh. Memorial contributions in Ralph’s honor may be made to Ellingwood’s Corner United Methodist Church, 796 Lebanon Road, Winterport, ME 04496.
