BANGOR – Robert S. “Bob” Nabozny, 60, died Monday June 21, 2010, after a long, courageous fight against multiple myeloma and amyloidosis. He was born Aug. 10, 1949, in Salem, Mass., the son of John S. and Ruth F. (Connolly) Nabozny. Bob grew up in Salem, Mass., and attended local schools. He graduated from Boston University with a master’s degree in clinical social work and was employed at Acadia Hospital, Maine Center for Integrated Rehabilitation and Eastern Maine Medical Center. Bob was loved and respected by his patients, colleagues, and the entire social work community. Bob enjoyed many hobbies, including working in his backyard Zen garden where he and his wife created a natural habitat for birds and animals. He also enjoyed playing the trumpet and flute. Bob’s proudest accomplishments are his daughter, Emily; son, Luke; and his deep love for his wife and soul mate, Judith. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Judith L. (D’Agostino) Nabozny; daughter, Emily Willey and her husband, Josiah, of Oakton, Va.; son, Luke Nabozny of Fort Bragg, N.C.; siblings, Virginia Richards and her husband, Phil, of Beverly, Mass., Richard Nabozny and his wife, Marge, of Eagle Point, Ore., John Nabozny and his wife, Barbara, of Lynn, Mass., James Nabozny and his wife, Cindy, of Rutland, Vt., and Patricia Jones and her husband, John Paul, of New Hampshire; sisters-in-law, Susan Pawlowski and husband, Dick, of Newburyport, Mass., and Dona Hopkins and husband, Gary, of Topsfield, Mass.; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and their children. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his father-in-law, Pasquale D’Agostino of Topsfield, Mass. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held 1 p.m. Friday, June 25, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. Rex H. Garrett, director of chaplaincy services at Eastern Maine Medical Center, officiating. After the service, Bob’s family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
