TAVERNIER, Fla. – Paulette (Atkins) Sears, 62, passed away peacefully June 15, 2010, at home after a 19-month battle with ovarian cancer. Paulette was born Feb. 11, 1948, in Gardiner, daughter of Arlene (Harvey) Atkins and the late George Atkins. She attended Farmingdale Elementary and after moving to St. Petersburg, Fla., she graduated from Dixie Hollins High School. She was employed much of her life as a business executive and graphic artist. She and her husband, Bill, moved back to Tavernier, Fla., in early 1991 from Lindside, W. Va., where they founded the West Virginia Fence Corp. business in 1978, which they continued to manage in Tavernier, Fla. She is survived by her devoted husband, William; mother, Arlene (Atkins) Morse; daughter, Julia and her husband, Nathan Osterc, and their sons, Evan and Drew; son, Cy Sears and his wife, Keeley, and their daughter, Hailey; brother, George “Joe” Atkins and his wife, Beth, and children, Lelani, Steve and Danielle; sister, Merry Shepherd and her daughter, Kerrie; many loved aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held on or about Aug. 31 in Lindside, W. Va., and Feb. 11, 2011, in Tavernier, Fla.
