HARMONY – Ray G. Chadbourne Sr., 94, died peacefully June 23, 2010, in Skowhegan. He was born Aug. 5, 1915, in Harmony, the son of the late George and May (Gilman) Chadbourne. He graduated from Harmony High School, Class of 1933. He married Freida Fowlie, in 1938. They lived all their years in Harmony, where they shared their love of family, friends, home and wonderful organic gardens, until Freida’s death in 1991. Ray worked on farms, in the woods, drove trucks and was employed several years by Bailey’s Store. He drove snowplows and was road commissioner. He and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Watson, owned and operated Chadbourne and Watson Garage, Harmony, from 1948 to 1981. Ray enjoyed hunting and fishing. He received the Boston Cane Award for being the oldest resident of the town of Harmony. He will be lovingly missed by his family. He is survived by his daughter, Rhoda Ayotte; a son, Ray Chadbourne Jr.; his grandsons, David Chadbourne and his wife, Marsha, and Francis Brown and his wife, Heidi, all of Harmony; his granddaughter, Angela Bouthot of Winthrop; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; his siblings, Cecil Chadbourne, Emma Watson and Lenora Watson, all of Harmony, Norris and Clyde Chadbourne of Cambridge, and Colleen Wilbur of Brunswick; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Freida; his granddaughter, Tammy Brown; two brothers, George and Clayton Chadbourne; and two sisters, Effie Gourley and Doris Blanchard. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 26, at Harmony Baptist Church, High Street, Harmony, with the Rev. Levi Pratt officiating. Interment will be immediately afterward at Chadbourne Cemetery, Chadbourne Road, Harmony. Should friends desire, donations in Ray’s memory may be made to Harmony Fire Department, P.O.
