HAYNESVILLE – Reta A. (Gavel) Malone, 92, went home to be with her Savior June 24, 2010, in Houlton. She was born May 9, 1918, in Haynesville, the daughter of John W. and Christie (Anderson) Gavel. She attended school in Haynesville, and was a life member of Haynesville Baptist Church where she was treasurer for 60 years, a Sunday school teacher and held many other jobs in the church. She worked for Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife for 40 plus years as a deer tagger, and was a special lady to many people. She is survived by her children, Gerry Tidd and her husband, Darrell, of Hodgdon, Jane Andrews and her husband, Gerald, of Mattawamkeag, Beverly Crocker and her husband, Searle, of Lee, Trudy Turney and her husband, Osman, of Linneus, and Bruce Malone and his wife, Norma, of Haynesville; two daughters-in-law, Joan Sullivan of Hodgdon and Sandra Malone of Haynesville; one sister, Christie Bea Bither of Waterville; 29 grandchildren, one being very close, Sra Smith, and her two sons, Devin and Jared; 51 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; two adopted grandchildren, Dale “Buster” Clifford Jr. and Jane Fitzpatrick; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 33 years, Ellsworth Malone Sr.; two sons, Roger and Ellsworth Malone Jr.; one grandson, one great-granddaughter, one great-grandson; and a brother, Clinton Gavel. The family says a special thank you to Pam Jacobs and all the staff at Gardiner Nursing Home. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Haynesville Baptist Church where funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Steven McNally officiating.
