SOUTH GARDINER – Louise MacMaster, 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, June 25, 2010. She was born April 18, 1923, in Gardiner, daughter of Arthur and Edna (Smith) Purdy. Louise, in her early years, was a beautician and had her own shop on Central Street, Gardiner, where she raised her three children. She also worked as a secretary for Armour Meats, Gardiner; state of Maine Bureau of Taxation; and for her husband, Ed, at Cobbossee Service Center, Farmingdale. In her later years Louise lived in Blanchard Township and was active in Monson Community Church. The last few years she resided in Farmingdale and Coopers Mills, and was a member of Gardiner Free Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband whom she was married to for 58 years, Ed; and a grandson, Herb Fisher Jr. She is survived by her children, John MacMaster and his wife, Brenda, of Douglasville, Ga., Jacqueline Salesky of Manchester, N.H., and Alfred MacMaster and his wife, Dottie, of South Gardiner; her grandchildren, Dana Hoffman of Virginia, Michelle Martinez of Colorado, Denise McCoy of New Hampshire, Deanna Hutchinson of Florida, Joe Fisher of Fairfield, Greg MacMaster of West Gardiner, Missy Reed of Palermo, Shrylin St. Onge of New Hampshire and Greg Fisher of Windsor; also 25 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. A gathering of family and friends will be held 1-2 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at Free Methodist Church, 134 Highland Ave., Gardiner, with a celebration of life service beginning 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Free Methodist Church Building Fund. Burial will be at a later date to be announced at Blanchard Township Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta.
