FORT KENT – Normand Roy Pelletier, 88, passed away June 26, 2010, with his family by his side at his home. He was born April 10, 1922, in Guerrette, the son of Joseph and Estelle (Guerrette) Pelletier. Normand served in the U.S. Marines from 1942 to 1945. He married Kathryn Little, in 1946, and owned and operated his own business for 35 years before retiring. He was an avid gardener, outdoorsman and enjoyed cooking. He will be dearly missed, but not forgotten by family, friends and those with whom he generously shared. He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Pearl Pelletier of Fort Kent and Bea McCreedy of Florida; a brother, Hobart Pelletier of Connecticut; and his son-in-law, Toby Knapp of Rhode Island. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Kathryn (Little) Pelletier of Fort Kent; eight children, Normand Pelletier Jr. of Homosassa, Fla., Gary Pelletier of Calgary, Canada, Paulette Knapp of Saunderstown, R.I., Lynette Berger of Augusta, Suzette Kobzeff of Lancaster, Calif., Leslie Serrao of Asheville, N.C., Ted Pelletier of Bristol, Conn., and Mead Pelletier of Cornwallville, N.Y.; one brother, Reynold Pelletier of Fort Kent; two sisters, Una Churchill of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Rinette Pelletier of Vero Beach, Fla.; 17 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. The family takes this opportunity to thank friends, relatives, hospice care, Visiting Nurses of Aroostook, Lakeview Senior Citizens Club and Daigle Funeral Home for their sensitivity and support. A viewing will be held 7-9 p.m. Friday, July 2, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 3, at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent, where a memorial service and family eulogy will begin 10:30 a.m. A graveside service with full military honors will be held directly after the memorial service at Holy Family Cemetery, Daigle. A reception will be after at Lakeview Senior Citizens Club, Route 161.
