BANGOR and CALAIS – Margaret “Jackie” Doten, 83, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at an Orono health care facility. She was born Dec. 29, 1926, in Calais, the daughter of Edmund and Martha (Halford) McLain. Jackie grew up in Calais, married her sweetheart, Allen F. Doten, and raised her family there. Her greatest joys in life were being wife, mom and nana. Jackie is survived by her son, Paul Doten and his wife, Karen, of Holden; daughter, Joan Paradise and her husband, Michael, of Corinth; grandchildren, Eben Doten and his wife, Whitney, of Bangor, Kalyn Griffin and her husband, Joshua, of Bangor, and Alex Doten of Holden; great-grandchildren, Cy and Liam; sisters, Joan Maher of Rochester, N.Y., Frances White of Portland, Ann Asali of Portland, Mary Hill of Bangor, Jane Reinhart and her husband, Robert, of Bethlehem, Pa., and Joyce Scharbo of Eaton’s Neck, N.Y.; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Jackie was predeceased by her husband; and her sister, Nancy Mosher. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, July 2, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 768 Ohio St., Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the services at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor. Interment will be held at a later date at Calais Cemetery.
