CALAIS – Florence Marie Cookson, 42, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 29, 2010, surrounded by her family at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Sissy was born Sept. 19, 1967, in Bristol, Conn. She married Ross Cookson Jr., with whom she shared two young daughters, in 1999. Sissy’s love is and always will be with her children. Sissy was predeceased by her father, Willy Perry Sr.; a brother, Rubinskey Perez; her grandparents; and a nephew, Matthew Babb. She is survived by her parents, Harold and Shirley McPhail of Perry; her husband of 15 years, Ross Cookson Jr.; two daughters, Amber and Shelby Cookson, all of Calais; two sons, Rubin Perry of Perry and Robert Perry of Ellsworth; a stepson, Drake MacKenzie of Robbinston; a stepdaughter, Arlene Lawless of Rockland; two sisters, Patty McLeRoy and her partner, Dot Francis, of Perry and Shelly McPhail of Ellsworth; a brother, Willy Perry Jr. and his wife, Dawn, of Pennsylvania; a stepbrother, David McPhail and his wife, Jessie, of Perry; her father-in-law, Ross Cookson Sr. of Calais; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, July 3, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, where a memorial service will begin noon after visitation, with Pastor Bob Hinton officiating.
