BANGOR – William “Bill” Rivers, 82, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010. He was born June 21, 1928, in Bangor, the son of Henry and Beatrice (Pray) Rivers. Bill was raised in Bangor, was a graduate of John Bapst Memorial High School and attended Ricker College, Houlton. Surviving are his daughter, Nancy (Rivers) Smith and her husband, Jay, and granddaughter, Madelyn of Anson; his son, W. Christopher Rivers and granddaughter, Marley of Waterville; his daughter, Sharon Rivers and her fiance, Les Stormann, and granddaughter, Noel of Milford; daughter, Kim (Rivers) Grimes and her husband, Robert, and granddaughters, Sidney and Hannah and grandsons, Camden, Colton and Robert of Deland, Fla.; his sister, Rosemary (Rivers) Gallant and her husband, Tom, of Bangor; his brother, Richard “Dick” Rivers of Orono; his brother, James Rivers of Old Orchard Beach; and longtime friend, Bonnie Knowles. All relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Church, 207 York St., Bangor. Burial with military honors will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
