BANGOR, Maine — A local man was sentenced Tuesday at the Penobscot Judicial Center to 15 years in prison with all but six years suspended for sexually abusing a female relative.
Superior Court Justice William Anderson also sentenced Arthur Joseph Jr., 42, of Bangor to four years of probation, which includes the provision that he seek treatment.
Joseph pleaded guilty to nine counts of gross sexual assault just before being sentenced. He said he sexually abused a girl, now 13, between September 2009 and May.
He was indicted by the Penobscot County grand jury in May.
As a result of his conviction, Joseph will be required to register as a sex offender.
