MADAWASKA – George E. Beaulieu, 83, died peacefully July 13, 2010, at a Fort Kent health care facility. He was born Sept. 30, 1926, in Madawaska, son of Come and Demerise (Castonguay) Beaulieu. George was a disabled veteran of the Korean War and received many medals and commendations. He was a self-taught woodcarver and skilled woodworker. In his later years he made thousands of rosaries for various missions. George was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Claudette P. (Picard) Beaulieu of Madawaska; his children, Michel Beaulieu, Constance Anderson and her husband, Doug, of Saco, Marguerite Dow of Madawaska and Madeleine Lynn Theriault and her husband, George, of St. David; his grandchildren, Jason Beaulieu and his wife, Lindsey, of Iraq and Arizona, Eli Beaulieu and his wife, Valentina, of Groton, Conn., Ian Anderson and his fiancee, Amanda Blanchette, of Saco and Brewer, Donovan and Daecia Dow of West Paris, and Allison and Lee Theriault of St. David; his great-granddaughters, Angelique Beaulieu of Groton, Conn., and Jordyn and Taylor Beaulieu of Fort Huachuca, Ariz.; one brother, Albert Beaulieu and his wife, Sara, of South Carolina. He is predeceased by his brothers, Joseph Louis, Maurice, Paul and Rene; foster brother, Pierre Cyr; and son-in-law, Michael Dow. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may gather 6-8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at Lajoie Funeral Home.
