BLAINE – Ruth M. Lento, “Gram Ruth,” 86, left to be with her Lord Saturday, July 17, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 28, 1923, in Presque Isle, daughter of Stanley and Mary (Condon) Knox. Ruth was a member of Mars Hill Apostolic Pentecostal Church for 51 years. She also loved cooking for all, and prepared school lunches for Central Aroostook High School for more 25 years. Ruth leaves behind one son, William “Bill” Lento and his wife, Gloria, of Blaine and Dade City, Fla.; a beloved daughter, Joanne (Lento) Holmes and her husband, John, of Blaine; one loving sister, Nellie Knox of Presque Isle; and one longtime friend for a lifetime, Mabel Brown. Ruth was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Guy Lento, in 1979; three sons, Stanley, Ronald and Robert Lento; 10 brothers, Marshall, Joe, Herbert, Harold, Edward, Bernard, Richard, Paul, Stanley and James Knox; and one sister, Jennie Woodman. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Donald Sawyer and to Mary Coffin, family nurse practioner, for all the wonderful care. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, at Mars Hill Apostolic Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Mel Calhoun, the Rev. Bruce Arsenault and the Rev. Victor Hartley officiating. Friends may call noon until the time of service. Interment will take place after the service at Tapley Cemetery, Blaine.
