SANGERVILLE – Bruce Fulton Jones, 71, died July 19, 2010, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Bruce was born Nov. 13, 1938, in Brockton, Mass., son of Roy and Evelyn (Bonney) Jones. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; and a master’s degree in engineering management from Northeastern University, Boston. During his life, Bruce was also a proud member of the Boy Scouts of America and a lifelong member of Grand Lodge of Connecticut, AF & AM. Though born and raised in Massachusetts, Bruce loved the simple pleasures and natural beauty of Maine, making frequent trips to Moosehead Lake with his parents, family and friends. In 1987, Bruce fulfilled a personal dream when he and wife, Esther, bought land, built a home and sunk roots in Sangerville. Bruce was happiest while spending time with his large family. Other favorite pastimes included working with his hands, hunting, fishing and spending time on his four-wheel-drive tractor in the woods near his home. He also enjoyed frequent trips to the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, for football games and marching band performances. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Esther Jones of Sangerville; sisters, Marjorie Dewhurst of East Bridgewater, Mass., Meredith Perkins of Sangerville and Marilyn Jones of Guilford; children, Sandra Kelly of Lebanon, Pa., Christine Gomes of Sangerville, Karen Bruce of Franklin, Ind., Barbara Clark of Clearfield, Pa., Bruce II of San Francisco, Burton of Vernon-Rockville, Conn., David Hanna of Bradenton, Fla., and Michael Hanna of Duxbury, Mass.; as well as 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Bruce was predeceased by his parents. Bruce will be remembered for his tremendous generosity, sense of humor, patriotism and limitless pride, love and devotion to his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and will never be forgotten by all those who knew him. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, July 22, at Unitarian Universalist Church, Sangerville.
