ORLAND – Elizabeth A. Nevells, 70, died Sunday, July 18, 2010, with her loving family by her side at her home. She was born Aug. 15, 1939, in Bangor, daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Finn) Stubbs. She was raised by her foster parents, Pearl and Bernice Ames. Betty loved her family, especially her dogs and her childhood horse, Blackie. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, arts and crafts, and during the holidays, making Christmas wreathes. In late summer she would rake blueberries. She was a member of Church of God, Orrington. She is survived by and will be sadly missed by her husband of 47 years, Richard E. Nevells Sr.; her children, Kendall Hatch of Bucksport, Robin Miller and husband, Robert, of Florida, Mary Hunt and husband, Paul, of Bucksport, Debbie Jacobs and husband, Troy, of Bucksport, Brenda James and husband, Jessie, of Newport, Richard Nevells Jr. and wife, Michelle, of Bucksport and Donald Nevells and significant other, Trisha Frates, of Bucksport; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one sister, Josephine Anderson of South Carolina; and two brothers, Austin Stubbs of Turner and Leroy Stubbs of Addison. In addition to her parents and foster parents, she was predeceased by one granddaughter, Tonya Wescott; four sisters, Margaret Kalel, Madeline Firburger, Annie Wright and Mary Atwood; and two brothers, Ernest F. Stubbs and Kenneth Stubbs. The family extends a special thanks to all those that helped take care of Betty. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with Pastor Jon Ouellette officiating. Burial will be afterward at Riverview Cemetery, River Road, Bucksport.
