BELFAST, Maine — A teenage girl who reportedly went missing Saturday at the Maine Celtic Celebration was found later in the weekend by police.

Posters looking for information about the whereabouts of a 16-year-old girl named Amanda were distributed around the fair and in other locations around town, sparking concern among some community members.

Detective Bryan Cunningham of the Belfast Police Department said Monday that there was no foul play surrounding the girl’s disappearance.

“She was not abducted. She was with friends. She just didn’t want to go home,” he said.

The teen apparently took off on Saturday night and was picked up by an officer at about noon on Sunday, Cunningham said.
