BUCKSPORT – Lewis C. Reed Sr. passed away unexpectedly July 28, 2010, after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 1, 1944, in Bangor, to A. Lowell and Clara Belle (Porter) Reed. Lewis attended Orrington schools and graduated from Brewer High School in 1962. He enjoyed baking, cooking, hunting and fishing, spending time at his camp with family and friends, and was an avid Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics fan. Lewis was most recently employed as a rural route mail carrier in Brooklin. He was predeceased by his second wife, Loana L. Pomeroy, in 2009; and his father, Lowell, in 2007. He is survived by his children, Lynn Augustine and her husband, Larry, of Bangor, Jeffrey Reed of Bucksport, Mike Reed and his wife, Lisa, of Penobscot, Lewis Reed Jr. and his wife, Colleen, of Sedgwick, and Matthew Reed and his wife, Desi, of Orland; his stepsons, Ralph, Wayne, Merton Jr. and Adrian Hanscom, all of Bucksport; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his mother, Clara Reed of Florida and Otis; his brothers, Dickie Reed and his wife, Nancy, of Florida and Otis, and Bobby Reed and his wife, Debbie, of Gretna, La.; his first wife, Arline Reed of Bucksport; numerous nieces, nephews, stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren. Graveside services and a celebration of his life will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, at Mount Recluse Cemetery, Stockton Springs.
