MARION, Iowa – Patricia Elaine (Smith) Turner was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, July 10, 2010, in Marion, Iowa. She was born March 18, 1944, in Biddeford, daughter of Glendon Smith and Lillian Barbour. Pat graduated from Stonington High School. She lived most of her adult life in Rapid City, S.D., where she raised her family. Pat worked as a certified surgical technologist for Rapid City Regional Hospital. She was also on the board of directors at Rapid City Medical Credit Union, as well as being a member of Association of Surgical Technologists. Pat lived her life for Christ and as part of her Christian living she did short-term missions in the Caribbean, based out of Grenada. She unselfishly returned to Maine to become a caregiver to her mother, father and stepmother in their time of need. Pat enjoyed gardening, bird watching, photography, painting and interior design. She also enjoyed camping, kayaking and the tranquility of the ocean. She was predeceased by her father and stepmother, Glendon and Winifred Smith; and her mother and stepfather, Lillian and Charles Barbour. She is survived by her two daughters, Annette Pellman and her husband, Brian, of Duncanville, Pa., and Sherry Johnson and her husband, Kai, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sister, Priscilla and her husband, George, of Wichita Falls, Texas; sister, Glenda and her husband, Bill, of Clifton; brother, Vernon and his wife, Joyce, of Carmel; grandchildren, Aaron, Cassie, Tyler, Ethan and Hannah; great-granddaughter, Madison; as well as many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Pat’s life will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at First Assembly of God Church, 614 Finson Road, Bangor. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to The Arc of East Central Iowa, 680 2nd St. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401.
