HARRINGTON – Thomas R. Kent Sr., 75, passed away Aug. 4, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Nov. 30, 1934, in Sparrowbush, N.Y., son of the late Willard J. and Martha (Skinner) Kent Sr. Thomas was a U.S. veteran having served his country for 20 years during the Korean and Vietnam war era. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a mess specialist first class. Mr. Kent worked for K-Mart in New York and most recently at Red Barn Restaurant, Milbridge, until his retirement in 1996. Thomas was a member of Harrington, Indian River and Pamona Grange of Washington County. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 11558, Harrington, and American Legion Post No. 8, Cherryfield. He enjoyed golf, stamp collecting, search-a-words, and collecting shells. He shared 13 years of marriage with Iris F. (Brooks) Kent of Harrington. In addition to his wife, family members include his children, Calvin Caudill of Alabama, Veronica, Thomas Kent Jr., James Kent and Theresa Kent, all of Sparrowbush, N.Y.; stepson, Prentis Caudill of Sanford; two brothers, Willard James Kent Jr. and his wife, Lena, of Sparrowbush, N.Y., and Robert C. Kent and wife, Marie, of Middletown, R.I.; many close friends and neighbors. He was also loved by a special cat, Alexander. Visiting hours will be held 2-3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, at Harrington Baptist Church, Main Street, Harrington, where a service will begin 3 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be after at Evergreen Cemetery, Milbridge.
