SEARSPORT – Jeannette Evans, 88, died Aug. 5, 2010, in Belfast. She was born Oct. 14, 1921, in Milbridge, daughter of Vinal and S. Marie (Strout) Foss. She worked for many of the local shoe factories and for Penobscot Frozen Foods. Jeannette grew up on Monhegan Island until 1942 when she moved to Thomaston for four years and then spent the rest of her life in Searsport. She was a member of Overcomers Christian Fellowship. She enjoyed reading and especially loved her pets. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Vinal Foss Jr.; her 3-month-old sister, Alice Marie Foss; and her husband, Nathaniel Evans, in 2009. Jeannette is survived by her son, Paul T. Evans of Searsport; her grandson, Paul T. Evans Jr. of Searsport; two great-grandsons; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Ken Davenport officiating.
