DEER ISLE – Judith Nancy (Owen) Danico, 69, who resided at Island Nursing Home and formerly of Blue Hill, died Aug. 4, 2010, in Deer Isle. She was born Feb. 23, 1941, in Blue Hill, to Edward and Katherine (Saunders) Owen. Judy was a 1959 graduate of George Stevens Academy and was a member of First Baptist Church, Blue Hill, where she participated in the choir for several years and served on the deaconate board. She loved church activities, reading and spending time with people, especially the elderly. She was a devoted and loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, sister and aunt. She was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Donald. She is survived by three children, Jeffrey Danico of the Netherlands, Jill Voyer and husband, Philip, of Illinois and Gregory Danico of Brooksville; four grandchildren, Donald Danico Voyer of Virginia, Jeffrey Danico of the Netherlands, Cady Voyer and Zachary Voyer of Illinois; three sisters and their spouses, Donna Carter and Kendall of Bucksport, Jane Patten and Stacey Emerton of Blue Hill and Freda Reynolds and Larry of Penobscot; two brothers, Kevin Burgess and wife, Sonya, of Sedgwick and Robert Owen of Bangor; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family expresses their undying gratitude to all the staff at Island Nursing Home for the genuine love and care they gave to Judy and to the family. Their level of care went beyond the basic care of a patient – they truly love their residents. Their thoughtfulness will not be forgotten. Visiting hours will be held 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Blue Hill. Interment will be at Mount View Cemetery, Blue Hill.
