OCALA, Fla. – Mrs. Edith T. Hunter, 88, passed away Aug. 4, 2010, in Ocala, Fla. She was born June 21, 1922, in Swanville. She taught school in Hampton, N.H., Exeter, N.H., Belfast and Swanville. Edith was a past president of New Hampshire Education Association and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She enjoyed golf, bridge, bowling, traveling and quilting. Edith moved to this area in 1991 from Monroe, N.Y. She was predeceased by her first husband, Ward Whittum; and two sisters, Shirley M. Thayer and Barbara Clark. Edith is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, William B. Hunter; one daughter, Judith Whittum Hudson and Alan of Novi, Mich.; one sister, Marjorie T. Bowen of Hampden; two nieces, Janet and Nancy; and two nephews, Robert and David. A gathering of friends will take place 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Roberts Bruce West Chapel, 6241 S.W. State Road No. 200, Ocala, Fla. The family requests donations be sent to Hospice of Marion County.
