SKOWHEGAN – Geraldine H. Closson, 88, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, at a Skowhegan health care facility. She was born Oct. 18, 1921, in Skowhegan, daughter of the late Ernest Bilodeau and Pauline (Finnemore) Bilodeau. She was educated in Skowhegan schools. Geraldine married Russell Closson, March 12, 1946, in Mars Hill. He passed away in 1994. She spent the first 15 years of her married life in Easton before returning to the Skowhegan area. Throughout the years Geraldine worked in various mills, in addition to Redington Hospital, Skowhegan; Tracey’s Dry Cleaning, Husson College and in the kitchens of Bangor area nursing homes. She enjoyed doing ceramics and artex, needlepoint, going to Florida in the winters and going on cruises. She is survived by her three children, Lawrence Closson and his wife, Marjorie, of Bangor, Brenda Collins and her husband, Samuel, of Skowhegan and David Closson and his special friend, Cindy, of Kenduskeag; a daughter-in-law, Debra Closson; one brother, Earl “Butch” Bilodeau and his wife, Elaine, of Skowhegan; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Bolster; one son, Thomas Closson; infant daughter, Judith; her brothers, Sherwood, Kenneth, Robert, Francis and Lewellyn “Lum” Bilodeau; and her sisters, Ella Kinney-Lee and Beverly Lewis. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at East Skowhegan Cemetery, Skowhegan, with the Rev. Mark Tanner officiating.
