PRESQUE ISLE and CARIBOU – Ruth M. Pomeroy, 84, wife of the late Paul Pomeroy, died peacefully Aug. 7, 2010, in Caribou. She was born Aug. 11, 1925, in Nazareth, Pa., daughter of the late Warren and Marguerite (Stofflet) Eberts Sr. Ruth married her Navy husband, Paul, on Christmas Eve in 1944. They lived in Presque Isle and wintered in Palm Harbor, Fla., for 26 years until Paul died Dec. 22, 1998. After Paul’s death, Ruth lived in Caribou and went to Hilton Head Island, S.C., in the winter with her daughter, Cathy and her husband, Jeff. Ruth was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan, and was a former member of Caribou and Presque Isle country clubs. Ruth was a very special wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and sister. Her family will forever cherish the memories in their hearts. Her friends will always remember Ruth’s ready smile and quick wit. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Jeffrey Everett of Caribou; her son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Jean Pomeroy of Macon, Ga.; one brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Corinne Eberts of Easton, Pa.; grandson, Ryan Everett and Rusty of Woodland; granddaughter, Emily and Jason St. Peter; and great-granddaughters, Madison, Isabella and Ava, all of Forsyth, Ga. She was predeceased by a brother, William Eberts. A private family funeral service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 11, in the chapel of Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Interment will be at Johnson Cemetery, Presque Isle.
