BREWER – Carl Jennings Folmer Jr., 75, passed away Aug. 9, 2010, with his family at his side at his home. He was born March 2, 1935, in Erie, Pa., son of Carl Sr. and Cecil (Stearns) Folmer. His 20 years of honorable service in the U.S. Army included duty served in Korea, New Jersey, North Carolina, Germany, Colorado and Oklahoma, and included a tour in Vietnam. He retired in 1974 as a staff sergeant, having been awarded personal awards including the Bronze Star. In retirement he has lived in Maryland, Gouldsboro, Arizona and North Carolina. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Jane (Grover) Folmer of Brewer; his children, Jerry Folmer and his wife, Lisa, of Waltham, Cindy Kitchens and her husband, James, of Arkansas, Caroline Cushman and her husband, Bud, of Holden, and Carl Folmer III of Maryland; nine grandchildren, Eric, Brad and Troy Folmer, Christopher and Cristri Bergeron, Craig DeForest, Zachary, Audra and Ethan Cushman; one great-grandchild, Sadie Cushman; and siblings, Lou and Bucky Folmer, Rose Stull, Judy Mauk, Marth Dush and Harriet Carne. He was predeceased by his sister, Mildred Hinds. Memorial services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Memorial Alternatives, 205 Center St., Bangor.
