HAMPDEN – Sandra “Sandi” J. Granholm, 61, went home to be with her family in heaven Aug. 14, 2010, surrounded by the love of the ones she leaves behind after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born Oct. 3, 1948, in Bangor, the daughter of Frederick and Mertie (Wheaton) Walker. Sandi graduated from Bangor High School in 1966. She was a stay-at-home mom until her son graduated from high school. She worked many years in retail, at Irving Oil Co. and Colonial Adjustments, where throughout the years she had an opportunity to meet many new friends. Sandi enjoyed life doing many things such as loving her cat, Greyson, cooking, sewing, crafts and tole painting. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Granholm of Hampden; her son, Jeffrey Granholm and his wife, Jennifer, and her granddaughter, Cortney, all of Old Town; her sister, Linda and her husband, Larry Barghultz, of Great Falls, Mont.; two nieces, Tawny and her husband, Kenny Eaton, of Helena, Mont., and Michelle and her husband, Casey Peterson, of Plentywood, Mont.; two great-nieces, Larymie Eaton and Karli Peterson; one great-nephew, Chase Peterson; cousins and many special friends. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a service of remembrance will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, with the Rev. Scott Black officiating.
