LEVANT – Ronald F. Cormier, beloved husband of the late Florence McLaughlin Cormier and longtime resident of Levant, departed this life Saturday, July 31, 2010. Born Sept. 16, 1925, in Gardner, Mass., he was the oldest of three born to Frederick and Georgiana (St. Hilaire) Cormier. Ronald grew up in Gardner, Mass. He served his country in China and Guam during World War II, and in the Korean War as a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Marine Reserves. He met and married Florence, his wife and best friend for more than 50 years. They moved to Maine in 1955, settling in Levant in 1955. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Florence; and sister, Teresa. He is survived by Dorlane and her husband, Maj. Donald W. Craig, U.S. Air Force, retired, of West Gardiner; Virgil and his wife, Linda, of Levant; his cherished three grandchildren; his two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Pricilla Dack of Ilion, N.Y.
