FORT FAIRFIELD – Martina I. Senechal, 87, wife of the late Wilfred G. Senechal, passed away Sunday morning, Aug. 22, 2010, surrounded by her family and nursing staff at Caribou Nursing Home after a long and courageous battle with congestive heart disease. She was born Nov. 23, 1922, in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, the daughter of William and Mary (Ohagan) Morrissey. She was educated at Grand Falls Portage School and married Wilfred G. Senechal, Sept. 17, 1940. She later became a resident of Fort Fairfield and was a communicant of Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield. In addition to her parents, Martina was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Wilfred, Nov. 10, 1998; five sisters, Sister Marie Morrissey, Bernadette Morrissey, Claire Godbout, Dorothy Morrissey and Kathleen McCue; two brothers, Jerome and Clarence Morrissey; and one grandson, Marco Scalzo. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Linda Senechal of Fort Fairfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Maritta and Ricardo Labrador of Virginia Beach, Va.; two brothers, William Morrissey of Ontario, and Cecil Morrissey and his wife, Agathe; two sisters, Rita Baker and Christina Curran, all of Grand Falls, New Brunswick; five grandchildren, Michelle and Gino Scalzo, Anne Neighbors and her husband, Sam, all of Virginia, Suzanne Jandreau and her husband, Jimmy, of Caribou, Gina Astle and her husband, Scott, of Conway, N.H.; 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered by her special friends, Dick and Paula Parady, and Rita Pelletier, all of Fort Fairfield. The Senechal family expresses their appreciation for the wonderful care provided to Martina by Limestone Manor; Borderview Rehabilitation and Living Center, Van Buren; and Caribou Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a vigil service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. Aaron Damboise. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Aaron Damboise, celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held immediately after the interment service at Veterans of Foreign Wars Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield.
